Description
There's a lot going on at the Famous Old time Music Company! Vernon McIntyre's Appalachian Grass (with its hard-driving bluegrass, trick fiddling and tight harmony) would love to be a part of your next event. Or join us for one of our monthly indoor bluegrass concert, here in the Boatwhistle Memorial Hall. The Festival in the Cornfields, is also held here, each year in the month of September, and should not be missed! Our latest addition, an educational program called "Strolling Through the Bluegrass" makes learning a real toe-tapper. And that's not all... FOTMC's music store carries an extensive line of musical insruments, parts and accesories. We can provide bluegrass music lessons and string instrument repair. And if you need some space to put on an event of your own, you can rent our hall, which seats over 400, and is handicap accessible.
Background
The traditional bluegrass sound of Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass draws on Vernon’s years of playing with the greats of bluegrass. He began his professional career at the age of 15 playing with Earl Taylor and the Stoney Mountain Boys. He has since played with Walt Hensley, Jimmy Martin, Jim McCall, James Monroe, and Scott Stoneman. Vernon was a founding member of the Bluegrass Pardners of Wheeling Jamboree fame. His banjo work with the Easterners is well remembered. Through the years, Vernon has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, once as a guest of Bill Monroe. He has recorded many projects of his own and has been a guest artist at innumerable recording sessions. In 1998, Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass won the CAMMY award for Best Bluegrass Band in the Cincinnati – Tri-State Area. Since the early 1970s, the band has played concerts, festivals, fairs, colleges, radio, television, and exclusive nightclubs across the United States and Canada. The Appalachian Grass also tailors special performances for occasions of all sizes including benefit concerts, Sunday morning gospel shows, museum and gallery openings, business meetings, and private parties.
